Damon Stapinksy

Expedition Guide, Logistics Coordinator, Paddle Excursion Support

Damon calls Quadra Island, off the east side of Vancouver Island, Canada, his home. It is part of the Discovery Islands group, nestled in the Inside Passage.

Damon has spent the last 16 years guiding thousands of guests in the Canadian wilderness and more recently in Antarctica by kayak, Zodiac, dog sled or on foot. For the past decade, he has operated an adventure company taking guests off his local shores to view orca, humpback whales and all the marine mammals living in the rich waters of British Columbia.

Damon has had the pleasure to guide for Quark in Antarctica, exploring the vast coast lines of the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. One of his fondest memories is stepping foot on South Georgia’s Salisbury Plain for the first time, being greeted by thousands of king penguins, hundreds of fur seals, and scattered with elephant seals. The pure, unspoiled splendor of this wild place has deeply touched him, and he can’t wait to lead future guests along these shores.

In his spare time, Damon can be found in his boat exploring local islands, whale watching or riding his motorcycle around Vancouver Island.
