Ode Siivonen

Mountain Safety Guide

Ode Siivonen was born in Finland and started skiing at the age of four. Snowboards, skis, climbing gear and many other outdoor tools have since become familiar. Outdoor sports started out as a passion and grew into a profession when Ode started to guide skitouring, heliskiing and iceclimbing in the Arctic. Since then guiding work has taken him to bigger mountains in the Alps, Norway, Svalbard, Kashmir India, Annapurna Nepal, Argentina, Antarctica, Alaska, Caucasus and Kamchatka. Ode has worked on the polar regions since 2003.

Ode has lived in Chamonix, France since the beginning of the nineties. Over the past three decades, Ode has concentrated on mountain sports year round. He climbs rock, ice and alpine terrain, enjoys the mountains on both a snowboard and skis, and sometimes base jumps or paraglides from the nearby cliffs. His favourite sports are riding powder on a snowboard and multipitch rock climbing. Ode chooses the tools and activities for a particular day based on conditions, weather and feeling.

Ode is a UIAGM/IFGMA certified mountain guide. With over thirty years of experience in skiing, snowboarding and climbing, with friends and with guests, Ode has developed a philosophy that riding and climbing should ultimately be as safe and as much fun as possible.
Steepness, grade and difficulty do not matter as long as the spirit on the team is high. Ode is more than happy to teach skills and techniques as well as provide unforgettable memories and unique experiences in the mountains and polar regions.
