About Sean Rielly

Raised in the urban wilderness of Chicago, USA, Sean fell in love with the outdoors and the little tracts of forest where he could play. At the University of Tennessee, he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry and a minor in wildlife and fisheries.
Upon graduation, Sean traveled to Alaska, where he has worked with the U.S. Forest Service since 2005. In 2009, he became a wilderness ranger based in Juneau, Alaska. As a steward of the land, patrolling areas by kayak, his team monitors, educates and aids research in four separate wilderness areas. The majority of the work is conducted in Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness, a glacial fjord system that encompasses 653,179 acres (264,332 hectares).
Sean enjoys working in wild and remote landscapes and has worked in the Antarctic region since 2012. The combination of the mountains, glaciers, ocean and sharing these wild places with wonderful people is what keeps him returning.
