Sharon moved from an instructional and operational role in the military to a career in the outdoor industry in New Zealand, where she was born and which she proudly calls home.
As an instructor and outdoor educator in New Zealand and overseas, she teaches a range of skills, including rock climbing and bushcraft/hiking, to up-and-coming instructors. She has also worked at Outward Bound in New Zealand and as a trainer for the New Zealand police.
With Quark Expeditions in both the Arctic and the Antarctic since 2013, Sharon is excited, as always, to be operating as a sea kayak guide and naturalist.
As part of adventuring and exploring wild and interesting locations, she completed a crossing of Iceland by hiking and packraft before her 2017 Arctic season. In her spare time, Sharon can be found planning her next adventure somewhere around the world while hanging out with her German shepherd and exploring around home.
