Tom has been drawn to the ocean since he was a young kid growing up on the east coast of Australia. This passion led him to complete his bachelor’s degree in marine biology and he has worked on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, for many years prior to indulging his other passion – travel. This brought him to Canada’s Vancouver Island where he spent years operating marine expeditions that focused on whale interactions, in particular orca and humpback whales, as well as guiding divers as a Divemaster.
Tom’s experience has allowed him to travel more extensively around the world. In Norway, he led an orca expedition and became a member of USEA (Underwater Soft Encounter Alliance), which aims to educate responsible interactions with marine mammals both above and below the water. He now spends much of his time guiding people throughout the Great Bear Rainforest, Vancouver Island, and Haida Gwaii, along the west coast of Canada. Due to his love for Canada and Australia, he now calls both countries ‘home’. Tom is thoroughly exploring the world’s natural regions and enjoys sharing his collective knowledge and experience with those around him.
