About Kim Mathieu
French Expedition Guide
From Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada, Kim complements the expedition team with her zealous curiosity and keen sense of awareness. She exudes respect for the powerful environment in which we are together traveling and shows dedication to keeping it free of ocean plastics and protected from rising global temperatures.
Kim obtained her Master’s degree in geography while working with Inuit communities. She assisted with their efforts to address the extremely high cost of food in their communities and to enhance funding for fishing and hunting equipment.
Kim has been working in the Polar Regions since 2016. Her most memorable moments include being charged by a fur seal in South Georgia and listening to Inuit women throat singing while sitting in her Zodiac in Greenland. Her advice for you on this trip is to check in with your senses, and to remember the smells and sounds in addition to what you can capture in a photograph.
