About Tom Mitchell
Tom has been drawn to the ocean since he was a young kid growing up on the east coast of Australia. This passion led him to complete his bachelors in marine biology and work on the Great Barrier Reef for many years prior to him indulging into his other passion - travel. His travels brought him to Vancouver Island where he spent years operating marine expeditions that focuses on whale interactions, in particular orca and humpback whales, as well as taking people on guided dives as a Divemaster.
This experience has allowed him to travel more extensively around the world. In Norway, he has lead orca expeditions and became a member of USEA (Underwater Soft Encounter Alliance), which aims to educate responsible interactions with marine mammals both above and below the water. He now spends much of his time guiding people throughout the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii along the west coast of Canada. Tom is thoroughly exploring these natural regions around the world and passing on his collective knowledge and experience to all of those around him.
