About Justin Schaay
SUP Guide
Justin has saltwater flowing through his veins. He grew up exploring the rugged coastline of South Africa surfing, windsurfing, and sailing the Cape of Storms. When his family could draw him away from the ocean they would head off into the bush on safari. These adventures nurtured a deep love for the natural world and the ocean, leading him to pursue a degree in Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Cape Town.
His passion for travel and the outdoors took him on an island-hopping sailing journey to remote locations across the Atlantic. Between trips Justin has worked as a naturalist and guide on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, USA, and is very passionate about stand-up paddleboarding and surfing. He enjoys competing in distance paddleboard races, his favorites have been the Everglades challenge in Florida a 300 miles journey from Tampa to Key Largo and the Molokai Oahu Paddleboard World Championship which crosses the “Chanel of Bones” in Hawaii.
When he’s not exploring, teaching, or competing Justin can be found in charming Charleston, South Carolina where he lives with his family alongside a small tidal creek surrounded by saltmarsh and majestic live oak trees. Justin is excited to share his passion for SUP with you and loves watching guests discover the adventure options onboard.
